Katunga home to Australian first renewable energy facility - FEB 4 2020

The first sods were turned at Katunga on Tuesday as renewable energy company AgBioEn started earthworks on its $2 billion project to turn agricultural waste into renewable fuels.

The project, which is an Australian first, will produce electricity, high-quality renewable diesel and jet fuel, fertiliser and food-grade carbon dioxide.

Australia in Landmark $1.3 Billion Project to Turn Farm Waste to Energy - Jan 30 2020

Melbourne-based company AgBioEn will start construction next week on a A$2 billion ($1.35 billion) project to turn agricultural waste into energy for use in food production.

The facility at Katunga in Victoria state is the first of its kind in Australia, the company said in a media statement, converting organic waste materials such as cereal straw into electricity, renewable diesel and jet fuel, and fertilizer.

“All agricultural land used to supply biomass to the facility will also be used to cultivate food crops,” said Program Director Lubey Lozevski. “It is a priority for AgBioEn that no agricultural land is taken away from food cultivation to create fuels.”

The Kooyong Classic tennis exhibition tournament in Melbourne, Australia has announced star players and significant new commercial partnerships ahead of its 2020 edition.

The tournament has traditionally been a curtain-raiser for the Australian Open, taking place the week before the grand slam and featuring eight invited men’s players, and also on several occasions a women’s competition.

In 2020, former world number one players Caroline Wozniacki and Maria Sharapova will take part in the revived women’s competition, with more players to be announced in the coming weeks…

Feedstock waste becomes renewable diesel in Australian first - AUG 21 2019

A renewable energy company is about to become the first in Australia to use specialised technology to produce renewable biofuels on a commercial scale.

By 2023 the company’s plant is expected to produce 150 million litres of renewable diesel and bio-jet fuel for commercial sale annually, with the first fuel expected to be produced by next June.

$2 billion investment for Katunga - JUL 31 2019

Australia’s first large scale, fully integrated renewable energy business operation is about to put the small town of Katunga on the map.

More than $500 million will be injected into the local economy following the announcement of the AgBioEn renewable energy facility in Katunga. The total investment in all land, equipment and buildings in Katunga and the surrounding region will be at around $2 billion.

Katunga renewable diesel plant one step closer - Jul 30 2019

A plan to establish a $2 billion renewable diesel plant in Katunga by developers AgBioEn is one step closer to reality.

The company says it is in the final stages of planning and hopes construction will begin before the end of the year.

AgBioEn chairman Charles Hunting said 1000 new jobs would be created by the end of phase two of the development.

‘‘We plan on producing 200million litres of liquid fuel annually from 600 000 tonnes of biomass — basically feed stock will go in one side and fuel will come out the other,’’ Mr Hunting said…
